Nursery school

It was a happy day for me when my twins went to nursery school. I wanted to do everything I could: buy books for school library, draw posters for kids, decorate playroom and design costumes for School Theater. And most of all I wanted to make friends with other mums.

At first we got on very well and really enjoyed discussing children’s behavior and all this family stuff. But then cigarette smell has betrayed me for the second time. “Oh, No, Those smell… You do not smoke, do you?” asked Debora, one mum from our group, when I forgot the chewing gum. “Ummm”, actually, I have not found proper words to answer again. “I can’t believe it, indeed”, continued Debora. “Don’t you care about your children? Don’t you think about harm that your smoking does to them? Are you so indifferent? I did not expect that from you!”. “I will prohibit Simon to play with your twins”, Kelly, another mum said.

From that day I was completely ignored by all the mums of nursery school. I felt very uncomfortable when we met and I noticed their looks. Smoking is a great barrier for communication and smoking person, especially woman, is considered to be careless, harmful and indifferent. Unfortunately I did not understand that those days.
